Welcome to National Centre For Maritime Policy Research

Overview

Role of maritime sector in the economy of the country needs no emphasis.  Efficient maritime sector backed by modern technology and practices is indispensable.  Shipping, clearing logistic and port facilitators plays a pivotal role in supporting trade and directly contributes towards national economy.  Despite the lack of maritime orientation at national level, the maritime community of Karachi played over the past many years an important role.  Today this role is flourishing more and more and it has resulted in a vibrant maritime cluster and related corporate network. However, these stakeholders have been unable to find adequately educated and trained manpower to cope with rapid changes and advancement in the trade regime due to lack of maritime awareness in the country.  Moreover, there has been an ever-increasing demand on the top management of maritime sector due to globalization, competitive pressures and the speed of technological changes.

The centre’s mandate includes promoting education particularly in the maritime field. To this end, NCMPR has taken lead in instituting formal education in maritime sector by offering internationally and HEC accredited degree programmes namely MBA-Maritime and now offering Post Graduate Diploma (Maritime).  The Centre possesses ample resources and expertise for making these programmes beneficial for both the students and the maritime sector.

NCMPR as an active partner within maritime community launched Master of Business Administration (Maritime) in Spring 2008 to cater to the needs of Maritime Sector stake holders.  NCMPR focuses its academic programs more and more on the global maritime industry as it wishes to exploit its core competence in this domain to the fullest.
