Objective

The objective of PGD Maritime program is to strengthen the management capacities of the people working within the maritime companies and organizations.  The idea is to equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to build a productive and efficient workforce in rapidly expanding maritime industry of Pakistan.  PGD Maritime students after graduation would be able to develop a broad understanding of the many challenges facing the maritime sector and acquire top international skills in business administration, reflecting the maritime sector. It is a one year programme which fulfils all the criteria laid down for PGD by Higher Education Commission.  The aim of the programme is:

• To provide tertiary training opportunities for coastal community in the areas of sustainable development and management

• To develop and enhance capacity on contemporary approaches to maritime resources management

• To facilitate capacity building, career progression, and promotes professional development

• To permit people to obtain higher and recognized tertiary qualifications in the maritime field

• To mitigate the industrial needs for well trained and qualified workers

Future Prospects

It will be endeavoured to seek relaxation of BUs existing rules to facilitate exemption from courses already taken during diploma studies if the students wish to pursue a degree in MBA (Maritime) in the same university.
